Johnny Depp rend hommage au « héros sacrificiel George Floyd »

L’acteur a tenu à rendre hommage à son tour à George Floyd, décédé le 25 mai au cours d’une arrestation violente, via une vidéo postée sur son compte Instagram. Johnny Depp a ainsi repris un morceau écrit par Bob Dylan en 1963, The Times They Are A-Changin’.

«Prenons un moment pour nous souvenir du héros George Floyd (“sacrificial hero”), et observons avec espoir les changements que sa mort tragique entraînera», a-t-il conclu. «Saluons le prophète Bob Dylan et le changement qu’il a inspiré à l’époque, et qu’il inspire encore aujourd’hui.»

I chose to perform this song live, for my friend @drbarbarasturm Covid benefit several weeks ago… I didn’t really know how to play it, but I figured I’d give it a shot, as it seemed to apply so well. And it applies now, more than ever. It was performed a couple of weeks before our collective paralysis was rendered complete by the images of our fellow human George Floyd being cruelly and brutally tortured to death on live TV. Let us take a moment to remember the sacrificial hero George Floyd and look with hope towards the changes that his tragic death will cause. And let’s salute the reluctant prophet Bob Dylan and the dream of change he inspired then, now, and onwards… His impact is that of Shakespeare, Marlowe, Hunter Thompson, Marlon Brando, Woody Guthrie, William Blake, Picasso, Bach and Mozart.
